Tossing Daddy

Some old fashioned trick photography. First picture is the boy just holding his hands up in the air and looking at them. The second is me jumping as high as I can and landing on my face (hurt some, yes) while my wife hit my remote shutter for me. Camera on a tripod so the two images are identical except for me and the boy. Then, in Photoshop, I just put me jumping in a layer below the one with boy and masked myself in. Easy as you please. Would have been easier if I wasn't dealing with patchy clouds. I was less exposed than the boy and my efforts to correct that sort of show, I think.

I'm going to revisit this idea later on. Call this a proof of concept. My D3 is at Nikon getting fixed so I'm shooting DX format here so my widest lens converts to 75mm, which is too much zoom for this sort of thing I think. When my reenlistment bonus hits I'm going to pick up the 24-70mm f2.8 among some others, which I think will make for a better image.
